
Indiana Completes Season Sweep of Michigan State with 3-2 Victory

EAST LANSING, Mich. – There's no harder conference to win games on the road than the Big Ten.
The Indiana Volleyball team (12-10, 5-5) did it twice this weekend after dispatching of Michigan State (23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-13, 15-13) on Sunday afternoon in East Lansing.
IU's weekend sweep of the Michigan schools (3-1 win over No. 25 Michigan on Friday) marked the first time the Hoosiers have won both conference games on the same weekend since 2015.
The Hoosiers move into sole possession of 7th place in the Big Ten following the weekend.
Mady Saris bounced back from a slow start to record 15 kills on 41 swings while Candela Alonso-Corcelles (11 kills, 7 digs, .429 hitting percentage) played one of the best games of her young career.
The Hoosiers have won three-straight conference matches for the first time since 2014 and have five wins through the first half of conference play for the first time since 2010.
Steve Aird's bunch held Sparty to just .188 offensively. IU had 15 total team blocks with Savannah Kjolhede racking up nine total blocks on the day.
IU returns to Wilkinson Hall on Friday evening for a matchup with Rutgers (7:00 PM, BTN+).
SET 1 (Michigan State 25, Indiana 23)
• After exchanging blows through the first 20 points, IU took a 12-11 advantage following a pair of kills from Mady Saris.
• IU would close the lead down to 22-23 following a pair of attacking errors from Michigan State late in the set.
• Sparty would respond to take the opening set with a kill from Rebecka Poljan giving them the early advantage.
SET 2 (Indiana 25, Michigan State 19)
• Kaley Rammelsberg provided a kill as IU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second set.
• Back-to-back kills from Morgan Geddes forced Michigan State into an early timeout as IU took a firm 9-3 lead.
• The Spartans would claw back into the set, coming all the way back to tie it at 14-all following a service ace from Selin Aslayan.
• Kaley Rammelsberg and Ashley Zulauf provided the finishing touches on the final set with kills to give IU the last points and the set.
SET 3 (Michigan State 25, Indiana 20)
• The Spartans took an early 5-1 advantage with IU giving a few points away on attack errors in the opening stages.
• An attack error from Michigan State following a kill by Kaley Rammelsberg leveled the affairs in the third set at 10-all.
• Following a timeout, the Spartans went on a 4-1 run to take a 21-16 lead.
• The Hoosiers would get late points from a service error and attack error, but Michigan State would take the third set 25-20.
SET 4 (Indiana 25, Michigan State 13)
• IU dominated from the opening point in the fourth set, breaking open a 10-5 lead. Out of challenges, Michigan State burned both timeouts in the first 15 points.
• Mady Saris began rounding into form as she tallied a string of three-straight kills to boost the Hoosier advantage to 19-9.
• Savannah Kjolhede aced Michigan State to send the match to a fifth set.
SET 5 (Indiana 15, Michigan State 13)
• Morgan Geddes offered a crucial kill to bring everything back to 8-all after switching sides midway through the set.
• Kills from Mady Saris and Candela Alonso-Corcelles boosted IU back into an 11-10 lead, forcing a timeout from Michigan State.
• With the score tied at 13-all, head coach Steve Aird took his final timeout. Immediately following the timeout, Michigan State served it right into the net to give IU the 14-13 lead.
• A wild rally ensued on the final point with Michigan State's libero keeping the ball alive before Morgan Geddes buried her final kill of the night to give IU the win.

• Mady Saris had 15 kills, the 19th time this season she's had double-digit kills.
• Candela Alonso-Corcelles played an outstanding game, racking up 11 kills on 21 swings while hitting .429. She also had two solo blocks and seven digs.
• Camryn Haworth was outstanding, posting her seventh double double of the season with 40 assists and 12 digs. She also had a career high six blocks.
• Morgan Geddes had 13 kills on 33 swings.
• Kaley Rammelsberg had 9 kills on a .421 clip in her second game back from injury.
• Savannah Kjolhede matched her career high with nine blocks. She also had five kills, four digs and two aces in the victory.

• IU has now won three-straight Big Ten matches for the first time since 2014. The Hoosiers haven't won four straight in the conference since 2008.
