Saris’, Geddes’ Outstanding Attacking Night Powers Indiana Past Rutgers 3-1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Behind a career night from Morgan Geddes and equally as great night from Mady Saris, the Indiana Volleyball team rattled off its fourth-straight win with a 3-1 victory in Wilkinson Hall.
Geddes provided a career best 17 kills as IU bested Rutgers 25-13, 25-17, 25-27, 25-14 on Friday evening.
The victory marks a fourth straight for the Hoosiers, the first four-game winning streak in the Big Ten since 2008.
Rutgers got back into the match after picking off the third set but IU put the Scarlet Knights to bed in the fourth set to record the victory.
Camryn Haworth recorded a double-double (38 assists, 14 digs) to help pace the Hoosiers' offense while Mady Saris (five blocks) and Kaley Rammelsberg (four blocks) helped hold Rutgers to just .017 offensively on the evening.
IU begins a brutal stretch of five-consecutive ranked opponents with a Sunday matinee showdown (1:00 PM) in West Lafayette with No. 12 Purdue.
SET 1 (Indiana 25, Rutgers 13)
• Camryn Haworth sent the Hoosiers to an 5-0 early lead following a run on serve that included a pair of kills from Morgan Geddes.
• Mady Saris stuffed Rutgers' Taylor Humphrey at the net to put IU up 12-2, the first of four solo blocks for Saris on the evening.
• Back-to-back kills from Morgan Geddes sent the Hoosiers up 18-7 and forced Rutgers to its second timeout of the set.
• A Rutgers service error closed out a 25-13 win for IU in the opening frame.
SET 2 (Indiana 25, Rutgers 17)
• IU opened the set on a 4-1 run that featured kills from Kaley Rammelsberg and Mady Saris.
• Savannah Kjolhede recorded an ace off a reception error from Taylor Humphrey to send the Hoosiers up 12-6 and force a timeout.
• Mady Saris recorded another solo block to send IU up 18-12 and cap off a 4-0 run for the Hoosiers.
• Morgan Geddes pounded back-to-back kills to close out a 25-17 second set victory.

• Paula Cerame served IU into the lead for the first time in the set as the Hoosiers took a 19-18 lead late in the game.
• IU would level it at 25-all but Rutgers would rattle off the final two points to send the proceedings to a fourth frame.
