BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With just six matches left in the regular season, the Indiana Volleyball team (13-13, 6-8) gets another pair of opportunities to bolster its chances at the NCAA Tournament this weekend.
The Hoosiers will welcome No. 16 Penn State to town on Friday night (6:00 PM EST) before loading up the plane to face No. 9 Minnesota on Sunday afternoon (3:00 PM EST).
Despite being projected to finish 13th in the preseason conference poll, IU sits in a three-way tie for seventh down the stretch. Two of its final six matches will come against Northwestern and Illinois, the two teams it shares an identical conference record with.
IU has beaten Penn State once in its history, a 3-1 win over the No. 4 Nittany Lions in October of 2010. This will be the second meeting of the year between the sides after Penn State won this year's conference opener in straight sets (17-25, 21-25, 23-25) in Happy Valley.
Minnesota has beaten IU on 11-straight occasions with the Hoosiers last win coming in a four-set victory at home in October of 2014.
The Hoosiers own one win over a ranked win this season and have taken sets off of Purdue, Ohio State and Wisconsin this season. No IU team has won multiple games over ranked opponents in the same year since 2016.
These two matches will be the 10th and 11th games against ranked teams this season for the Hoosiers.
