BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Big Ten Conference recognized a total of 1,641 students competing in fall sports who have been named to the Academic All-Big Ten team Friday.
The list of honorees includes 141 field hockey students, 626 football students, 133 men's and 226 women's cross country students, 142 men's and 237 women's soccer students and 136 volleyball students.
Indiana athletics had 123 representatives make the fall conference honor roll after the Hoosiers placed a record 134 student-athletes on the 2021 list. The previous record was 114.
"The accomplishments of our student-athletes in the classroom are a great source of pride for our department, so we are incredibly pleased and proud of the 123 fall sport student-athletes that earned Academic All-Big Ten honors," said IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Dolson. "We have had our top two totals for fall honorees in these last two years, which speaks to the tremendous commitment from our students as well as Lo Price and our entire Academic support staff. Congratulations to everyone for a job well done."
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team (as verified by being on the official squad list as of Nov. 1 for fall sports), have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
