
Hoosiers Head To Notre Dame This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field will compete in their final regular season meet this weekend as they travel to Notre Dame for the Alex Wilson Invite. Competition will take place on Saturday, February 19 beginning at 11 a.m. inside the Loftus Sports Center.

Last Time Out: Tri-Meet Weekend
Indiana is coming off a weekend that saw competition at Hoosier Hills, Music City Challenge, and Windy City Invite.
At home hosting Hoosier Hills, Indiana saw 16 event victories and personal records from seven athletes. Reece Proctor captured a personal best time of 1:51.79 in the 800m while Ben Miller picked up a time of 8:11.00 in the 3000m. Stidam also saw a PR in the 3000m with a time of 8:15.02.On the women's side Maria Anderson (1:30.35), Kelly Mindak (1:30.66), and Shynae Deas (1:33.45) all crossed in personal record time in the 600m. Mikaela Ramirez picked up a personal best of 4:51.49 in the mile.
At the Music City Challenge, the sprinters captured four victories and a personal best. Morgan Snow kicked off the meet with a first place finish in the open 400m in a personal best time of 54.74. Rikkoi Brathwaite competed for the first time since Jan. 28 and won the 60m with a time of 6.62. Kenny Benton rounded out the weekend by winning the seeded 400m with a time of 47.04.
Turning to Chicago, five Hoosiers competed at the Windy City Invite hosted by Wisconsin. There, Bailey Hertenstein and Ben Veatch paced Indiana with school records. Hertenstein crossed second in the Gold Coast Mile with a program record time of 4:35.22. Ben Veatch picked up second in the 3000m Invite and crossed in a school record time of 7:45.36.
Stamping the Record Book
As the indoor season progresses, Hoosiers have made their mark on the record book in their respective events. This past weekend, Indiana saw two program records fall. Bailey Hertenstein and Ben Veatch collected school records in the mile and 3000m, respectively. Hertenstein went 4:35.22 in the mile while Veatch picked up a time of 7:45.36. In the women's 3000m, Sarah Schmitt recorded a time of 9:17.82 which puts her sixth all-time. At Hoosier Hills on Friday night, Mariah Wehrle won the 5000m in a time of 16:31.11 and is 10th in IU history. Both Antonio Laidler and Kenny Benton made their way in the record book in the 200m. Laidler (21.31) is eighth all-time while Benton (21.33) is 10th. On the women side of the 200m, Alyssa Robinson is fifth in the IU history after clocking a time of 24.03. Robinson is also fourth in the 400m with her a time of 54.21 at the Music City Challenge.
Rankings are In
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their national rankings on Monday afternoon. For the first time this season, the men's squad entered the top-25. They rank No. 24 in the nation headed into the final regular season weekend.
In the regional rankings, the Hoosier men are second while the women are in third. Ohio State holds the top spot on the men's side while Wisconsin is first in the women's poll.
