Baseball Gameday: Round Rock Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The second weekend of the season will take the Indiana baseball program to Round Rock, Texas for the Karbach Round Rock Classic at Dell Diamond, home of the Texas Rangers' Triple A affiliate Round Rock Express. The Hoosiers will take on No. 2 Arkansas to kick off the event on Friday (Feb. 25) at 5 p.m. ET.

Scouting the Opponent

Arkansas opened the season at home and took two of three games from Illinois State. The Razorbacks dropped the season opener, before taking the final two games.
Senior Brady Slavens is hitting .400 with one RBI, while Junior Robert Moore leads the team with three RBIs, three runs scored and four extra base hits (3 2B, 1 HR).
Louisiana-Lafayette won two of three games from UC Irvine on the opening weekend and walked off Southeastern Louisiana for a midweek win to enter the weekend at 3-1.
Junior CJ Willis delivered the extra-inning walk-off RBI in the midweek contest. Senior Connor Kimple leads the team in hits (6), home runs (3) and is tied for the lead in RBIs (6).
Stanford took two of three games in its season-opening series against Cal State Fullerton, before blanking Santa Clara in a midweek to enter the Round Rock Classic 3-1.
Freshman Braden Montgomery leads the team with a .500 average and seven RBIs in two starts, while sophomore Eddie Park has a team-best six hits in four starts.

Series Notes

Indiana has met two of its three opponents at the Karbach Round Rock Classic, with Arkansas and Stanford already on the all-time ledger.
Arkansas will appear on the IU schedule for the first time since 1982 and the second time overall. IU won a neutral site meeting in 1967, 13-3, before the Razorbacks won 5-3 in Fayetteville during the '82 campaign.
Stanford appeared on the schedule in both the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the two teams splitting six meetings.
The Cardinal won the 2014 NCAA Bloomington Regional, before IU opened the 2015 season in Palo Alto, California, winning two of three games in the series.
IU will meet its ninth of 12 teams in the current alignment of the Sun Belt in Louisiana-Lafayette. The Hoosiers own a 24-8 mark against the conference in 32 total games played.
