
IUTF Heads North For Meyo Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field takes a trip up north when they compete this weekend at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. The meet is slated to begin on Friday, February 4 at and will wrap up on Saturday, February 5.

Last Time Out: IU Relays
The Hoosiers hosted the annual IU Relays this past weekend. The first day of the relays was highlighted by the highly anticipated distance medley relays. Making their season debut, Camden Marshall, Kenny Benton, Parker Raymond, and Ben Veatch combined for a time of 9:33.69 for victory on Friday night. The quartet's time is the best in the Big Ten and fourth in the nation so far this season. On the women's side Bailey Hertenstein, Alyssa Robinson, Kelly Mindak, and Hannah Stoffel saw a time of 11:05.33 to take silver. The time is the fastest Big Ten and No. 7 in the NCAA. Sean Mockler won his first event as a Hoosiers, heaving a mark of 20.91m (68' 7.25) in the weight throw. Maddy Pollard brock the 17-meter barrier in the shot put, throwing a mark of 17.01m (55' 9.75") for a season best. Pollard is now No. 12 in the NCAA far this season.
Stamping the Record Book
As the indoor season progresses, Hoosiers have made their mark on the record book in their respective events. During the IU Relays, three Indiana athletes and two relays made marks on the IU all-time list. Sean Mockler is now third in the weight throw. The women's DMR team moved in No. 5 on the all-time list while Bailey Hertenstein is No. 10 in the mile with a time of 4:42.10. Kenny Benton clocked a time of 47.12 which is good for No. 6 in program history. The men's 4x400m relay is now ninth in school history after clocking a time of 3:10.55 over the weekend.
Veatch Mode Activated
On January 21 at the Gladstein Invitational, Ben Veatch gave it all he got in search of his first career sub-4 mile. Coming down to the wire, Veatch turned on the jets to cross the finish line in a time of 3:59.73.
Regional Rankings Are In
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association continued their regional rankings on Monday morning. The men's team still hold the top spot while the Indiana women dropped two spots to third.
On the men's side, it's an all Big Ten top-5 as Ohio State sits in No. 2 while Wisconsin is No. 3. Michigan (4) and Purdue (5) round it out.
In the Women's rankings, it's also an all Big Ten top-5. Wisconsin leads the way in first while Michigan is ranked second. The Hoosier women are in third while Ohio State is right behind at No. 4. Michigan State completes the top-5.
