Hoosiers Open Big Ten Play with Michigan, Michigan State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will go on the road to start conference matches against Michigan and Michigan State this week.

The Hoosiers are coming off a weekend in which they narrowly lost 4-3 against Cincinnati and swept Eastern Illinois 7-0.
The Wolverines are 5-4 on the season with a win against No 4 California. Michigan has four ranked singles players including No. 13 Kari Miller. The Spartans are 7-2 on the season.
Indiana has posted a record of 34-24 in dual match singles play. Lara Schneider is 8-2 on the season in singles and Alexandra Staiculescu is 7-1. In doubles the Hoosiers are 13-13 combined, Laura Masic and Lara Schneider leading the way at 5-4.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
