Hoosiers Travel to Charleston for Match Against CofC

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will take on the College of Charleston on Friday March 18.

The Hoosiers opened Big Ten play last week with a 4-1 defeat against #32 Michigan and a 5-2 loss against #55 Michigan State. Alexandra Staiculescu earned a point for the Hoosiers against Michigan with a singles win against No. 76 Andrea Cerdan. Against Michigan State the Hoosiers won the doubles point and Laura Masic won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
On the season Lara Schneider leads the Hoosiers with a singles record of 15-4 including 8-3 in dual matches. Schneider and Masic have won six doubles matches in dual matches this season. Rose Hu/Lexi Kubas and Mila Mejic/Alexandra Staiculescu have won three doubles matches.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
