ATLANTA – Indiana entered the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships as the No. 14-ranked team in the country and left Atlanta as the No. 11 finisher in the national meet Saturday (March 19).
IU earned 116 points over the four-day meet to finish 11th as a team, its 14th straight top-15 finish at the NCAA Championships.
"Our staff is incredibly proud of our team tonight," IU head swimming coach Ray Looze said. "We had a fantastic final session highlighted by Tarrin's national championship in platform. Our efforts resulted in an outstanding 11th place national finish, and we are super excited about our future!"
Sophomore diver Tarrin Gilliland won the NCAA Platform National Championship to close out an outstanding meet both personally and for the IU diving squad. Gilliland won two medals during the week and was one of two athletes to reach the championship final in all three diving competitions. The IU diving trio of Gilliland, fellow sophomore Anne Fowler and senior Kristen Hayden totaled seven All-America honors during the national meet.

Hayden posted a career-best 316.10 to finish first in the platform consolation final and ninth overall.

Looze swam a 2:08.14 in the preliminary heat to snag the final seed in the consolation final. Saturday evening, she beat her seed by over one second, 2:07.04 to finish twelfth in the nation. Indiana has placed an All-America in the 200 breast in six straight seasons going back to 2016.
