BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Track & Field opens the outdoor season this weekend at Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State. The meet is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 24 and wrap up on Saturday, March 26.

Last Time Out: NCAA Indoor Championships
The Hoosiers concluded the indoor season on Mar. 11 & 12 in Birmingham, Ala. at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Rikkoi Brathwaite highlighted the event for Indiana with a runner-up finish in the 60m. He clocked a time of 6.52 which was a Big Ten Conference record as well as an IU record. The men's distance medley relay team consisting of Camden Marshall, Kenny Benton, Parker Raymond, and Ben Veatch collected a time of 9:33.27 and placed 10th overall. The quartet was tabbed for All-America Second Team honors. Also earning second team accolades were Veatch in the 3000m and Bailey Hertenstein in the mile.

Rikkoi Brathwaite has been smashing 60m indoor records all season. It started at the Hoosier Open when he began the 2020-21 campaign with a time of 6.54. At the time, it was a personal, program, and tied for the Big Ten record. Brathwaite then went one to win another pair of 60m events throughout the season. At Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships, he repeated as the 60m Big Ten Champion with a time of 6.57 and earned All-Big Ten First Team honors. Itching to get another personal record, Brathwaite crossed second in the 60m at NCAA Indoor Championships in a time of 6.52. His time was a personal and school record. Brathwaite also set the Big Ten record in the event. After NCAAs, he traveled to Belgrade, Serbia to compete at the 2022 Indoor World Championships. Brathwaite advanced to the semifinal round of the 60m.
Two Return to the Hoosiers
Using their final outdoor eligibility, Adam Coulon and Kyle Mau return for one last go around. Coulon is a three time Big Ten Champion in the pole vault and has made three appearances at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He is a three-time All-American and has earned four All-Big Ten accolades. Mau is a seventh year who has a Big Ten individual championships under his belt. He is a four-time All-American and has appeared at four NCAA Championships. Mau is Big Ten Champion in the mile and with the distance medley relay squad. He has garnered seven All-Big Ten honors.
That's Our (assistant) Coach
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their yearly regional awards for the indoor season on Mar. 17. Indiana's Ed Beathea was named Men's Assistant Coach of the Year for the Great Lakes Region. Working with the sprints group, Beathea coached Rikkoi Brathwaite to his second straight Big Ten Championship in the 60m. He also aided in Brathwaite's silver medal in the event at NCAA Indoor Championships. Beathea accounted for 14 points at Big Ten Championships that went towards the Men's team total. In the IU Record Book, Brathwaite is the school record holder in the 60m while Kenny Benton is third in the 200m and fourth in the 400m. Sprinter Antonio Laidler is No. in the 200m.
