
Big Ten Home Opener Next for Women’s Tennis

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team will continue Big Ten competition as they host Iowa and No. 51 Nebraska this week in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers look at get back on track following a 5-2 defeat against the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., last week. Indiana will play a stretch of four straight Big Ten matches at home. Following this weekend they host Purdue next week and Penn State the following week.
Iowa will look to break a skid of eight straight losses. Most recently they were defeated 4-3 against Penn State in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes have played five ranked teams this season. Last week Nebraska beat Penn State 5-2 and were edged 4-3 against No. 4 Ohio State.
Indiana has posted a record of 36-32 in dual match singles play. Lara Schneider is 8-3 on the season in singles and Staiculescu is 8-2. In doubles the Hoosiers are 15-16 combined, with Schneider and Masic leading the way at 6-5.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
