Indiana Women’s Tennis Hosts Purdue Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana women's tennis team welcomes Purdue to Bloomington on Saturday.

Last week the Hoosiers got their first Big Ten win in a 4-3 victory over Iowa. The Hoosiers started by claiming the doubles point with a win from Laura Masic and Lara Schneider at No. 1 doubles and Alexandra Staiculescu and Mila Mejic at No. 2 doubles. Schneider, Staiculescu and Rose Hu won singles matches for the Hoosiers against the Hawkeyes.
Purdue comes in with an overall record of 10-6 and 2-2 mark in Big Ten play. Most recently the Boilermakers beat Iowa 4-1 in West Lafayette.
Indiana has posted a record of 44-42 in dual match singles play. Lara Schneider is 10-4 on the season in singles and Staiculescu is 9-4. In doubles the Hoosiers are 19-21 combined, with Schneider and Masic leading the way at 8-6.
The Hoosiers return six players and added transfer Lara Schneider after she completed her freshman season at Florida State.
Schneider was ranked No. 25 in the 2020 class in the Tennis Recruiting Network and a five-star recruit. She graduated from Wando High School in 2020 and was ranked No. 1 in the girls 16 age division USTA South Region rankings in 2018.
Schneider and teammate Laura Masic went a perfect 6-0 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.
