Indiana, Memphis Tied for Seventh at Colleton River Collegiate

BLUFFTON, S.C. – After 36 holes of play, the Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team is tied with the Memphis Tigers for the seventh spot in the team standings after shooting a (581; +5) at the Colleton River Collegiate hosted by Michigan State at the Jack Nicklaus Course on Monday.

• Sophomore Drew Salyers stole the show in the second round after shooting a career-best 6-under 66, matching the lowest round played by anyone in the field. He tallied a team-best five birdies and an eagle on No. 14, the lone hole he birdied in his opening round of 75 (+3).
• Salyers has shot in the 60's on seven occasions this season, most recently when he shot a 5-under 67 in the second round of the Quail Valley Collegiate. The 66-stroke scorecard is the second of the season turned in by a Hoosier, matching the season-best round turned in by junior Noah Gillard in the final round of the Windon Memorial Classic.
• The two-time Big Ten Golfer of the week is positioned well (t-6th) for a final push after shooting a 141 (75-66, -3) through 36 holes.
• Gillard was the lone Hoosier to score par or better in both rounds on Monday after shooting a 143 (72-71; -1). He converted a total of five birdie attempts, including back-to-back on No. 6 and No. 7 in the second round. He also went birdie on No. 7, No. 12 and No. 14 in the first 18.
• Senior Mitch Davis had an up-and-down day that consisted of eight birdies and an eagle, one of two made by an IU player on Monday. He converted four birdies in each round with the eagle coming on No. 14 in the opening round. He finished the day with a score of 148 (75-73, +4).
• Sophomore Clay Merchent knocked down six total birdie makes, including four in the opening round. He made three-straight birdie conversions on No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 in the first 18 to set himself up for a 152 (73-79, +8) on the day.
• Fifth-year senior Ethan Shepherd holed out a total of five birdies on day and finished the day at 155 (79-76, +11).
