Hoosiers Host Purdue for Tuesday Doubleheader

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana softball team will take on Purdue for two games on Tuesday April 26 at Andy Mohr Field.

Series History
Purdue leads the all-time series 41-38. Last season the Hoosiers won three of four games in West Lafayette. Indiana has won seven of the last 10 games in the series.
Scouting the Opponent

Last Time Out
Last time out the Hoosiers dropped three games to No. 10 Northwestern. In the second game Indiana the Hoosiers had a 7-3 lead through four innings, but Northwestern won 13-8 in nine innings. In the final game of the series Indiana scored first and were tied 3-3 through four innings. Cora Bassett hit .545 for the series with six hits, including two doubles and a home run. Her slugging percentage for the series was 1.000 and her on base percentage was .615.

Stanton Earns 700th Career Victory
With the Hoosiers 2-0 victory over Sam Houston State on March 19 IU head coach Shonda Stanton earned her 700th career victory. Stanton is in her 24th year as a head coach. Before arriving in Bloomington, she coached at Marshall for 18 seasons and is the winningest coach in Marshall history with 560 wins.
Copeland Freshman of the Week X3
On Monday April 4 Brianna Copeland earned her third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. Copeland provided fireworks in the Hoosiers 14-11 win over Kent State on March 30. Copeland hit three home runs to become the Hoosiers first freshman to ever hit three home runs in a game and just the third ever player to accomplish the feat. Copeland lifted the Hoosiers to victory with a walk-off three-run home run in the ninth inning of the game. Copeland is hitting .400 on the season with eight home runs.
Attacking the Next 60 Feet
The Hoosiers rank 15th among NCAA DI softball teams in stolen bases at 2.25 per game. Tatum Hayes ranks third in the Big Ten in stolen bases with 22. The Hoosiers have stolen 89 bases this season compared to 29 from their opponents. Lindsey Warick has thrown out 11 runners trying to steal bases this season, which leads the Big Ten.
