Hoosiers Come up Short in 2-0 Loss to Illinois

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After giving up two runs in the first inning, Indiana shut out Illinois the rest of the way, but the Illini won game two of the series 2-0 on Saturday at Andy Mohr Field.  
 
Key Moments
• In the top of the first inning an Illinois double by Ryono scored two runs to put the Illini up 2-0.
• In the second inning Illinois had first and third with no outs and the Hoosiers retired three straight batters including a Natalie Foor strikeout to end the inning.
• Brianna Copeland came into the game in the third inning. In the fourth inning Copeland struck out the first two batters and retired three of four overall.
• In the fifth inning Lindsey Warick threw out an Illinois runner attempting to steal second base.
 
Notes
• Indiana drops to 25-19 on the season and 8-11 in Big Ten games.
• It was only the third game this season the Hoosiers have been shutout.
• Lindsey Warick threw out her 12th runner of the season caught stealing, which leads all Big Ten catchers.
• Brianna Copeland and Brooke Benson stole bases for the Hoosiers. Indiana now has 106 stolen bases on the season, which ranks in the top-10 in the NCAA.
• Aaliyah Andrews had an extra base hit for the Hoosiers with a double in the second inning.
