Hoosiers Set for Road Matches at Michigan State, Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team will travel north this weekend for matches against Michigan State and No. 6 Michigan.

LAST TIME OUT
The Hoosiers dropped two matches last weekend against No. 3 Ohio State and Penn State. The Hoosiers won the doubles point against Penn State with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Hoosiers also won singles matches with Patrick Fletchall at No. 2 singles and Luka Vukovic at No. 3 singles.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Michigan State is 13-9 overall and 0-4 in Big Ten play. The Spartans have lost matches against Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern and Illinois. Michigan comes in with a 14-2 overall record and perfect 4-0 mark in Big Ten matches. The Wolverines have four ranked wins including wins over No. 1 TCU and No. 2 Ohio State. Since a loss against No. 19 Harvard on Feb. 6 the Wolverines have won 11 straight matches.
THE CAPTAINS
The Hoosiers captains for the 2022 season are seniors Patrick Fletchall, Carson Haskins and Mac Rogers.
Fletchall has won 33-career singles matches in his three seasons in Bloomington while also appearing at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles in the Hoosier lineup. The Carmel-native was also an Academic All-Big Ten honoree during the 2020-2021 season.
Haskins is among the most seasoned veterans returning to the IU team. He's notched 45-career singles victories and has spent time at most spots throughout the lineup. Like Fletchall, Haskins was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree last season.
Rogers is a Bloomington native and was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree during the 2020-2021 campaign.
TAKING A LOOK AT THE STATS
Patrick Fletchall leads the Hoosiers with seven singles wins in dual match play. Fletchall has a 5-2 record at No. 2 singles. In doubles Fletchall and Ilya Tiraspolsky are 2-0 in Big Ten matches and 7-3 in dual matches.
