No. 20 IU Rowing Back in Action at OSU Regatta
4/8/2022 5:32:00 PM | Women's Rowing
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – 20th-ranked Indiana rowing resumes its regular season Saturday (April 9) in the OSU Regatta.
"The team is excited about getting back on the racecourse this weekend," IU head rowing coach Steve Peterson said. "They have been working hard on putting in a ton of mileage as well as working on small technical improvements that we expect will result in faster boats. In addition, we are continuing to work on the race plans and lineups for each individual crew.
"We have two races on Saturday to see how the boats perform in race situations and what works and what doesn't as we prepare for the Big Ten Invitational in two weeks. The Big Ten Invitational, which is being held down in Sarasota, Florida this year, brings together 16 of the top programs in the country for a great weekend of racing, and is arguably one of the most important races of our spring season. So, how we perform this weekend will tell us a lot about what we can expect down in Florida and for the rest of the season."

NOTES
- Indiana will race against competition from the Big Ten (Michigan State, Ohio State), Big 12 (Oklahoma) and ACC (Notre Dame)
- In the April 6 Pocock/CRCA poll, sits No. 20. The Hoosiers will face No. 9 Ohio State and two teams receiving votes this week in Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Michigan State is unranked this week.
- This weekend's regatta will be split into two sessions, the first beginning at 9 a.m. ET for the Hoosiers. Following a break in competition, the afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m.
- IU returns to racing after a three-week break, caused by the cancellation of its second scheduled meet on March 26. The Hoosiers and Wolverines instead scrimmaged on that Saturday.
- The Hoosiers last competed in their season-opener at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, March 19-20 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. IU's Second Varsity 8 boat highlighted the weekend, bookending a win with two second-place finishes.
