BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Grayson Radcliffe (softball) and Cooper Williams (cross country/track and field) are Big Ten postgraduate scholarship recipients, the conference announced on Thursday. Two student-athletes from each of the 14 Big Ten institutions who plan to continue their education at a graduate degree program were each awarded a $7,500 scholarship, based primarily on academic achievements.
Radcliffe has earned an undergraduate degree from Indiana in Sports Marketing and Management. She will be finishing her master's in Kinesiology in the fall of 2022.
Radcliffe is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honoree.
Radcliffe spent a semester with the IU Excellence Academy team, interning under the Leadership and Life Skills and Career Development staff to support the student athlete development department goals. In this internship she spent time developing and creating the Women Impacting Others program, which focuses on women's leadership and championship mindset. Through the development and execution of this program, Grayson added another permanent student group to our department.
Cooper Williams graduated in the spring of 2021 with a degree in psychology and is currently pursuing a master's degree. He has earned multiple All-Academic Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors from his work in the classroom. He has also garnered multiple USTFCCCA All-Academic awards in his time with the Hoosiers.
On the track, Williams has captured three Big Ten titles and was part of the 2017 and 2020 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field championship squads. He is an All-American in the 800m and with the distance medley team.
Each Big Ten institution developed its own on-campus selection process when awarding the scholarship. Students must have maintained at least a 3.2 grade-point-average, demonstrated leadership qualities, served as an excellent role model and intended to continue their academic work beyond their baccalaureate degree at a graduate degree program.
The scholarship will be used to pay expenses of the student's postgraduate education to include such related activities as research and teaching, as well as other expenses such as tuition, fees, room and board, required course-related supplies and books. In order to retain the scholarship, the recipient must be accepted into a full-time graduate degree program within three years from the fall semester after selection.
