Indiana Field Hockey Falls Short to Kent State in Overtime

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Indiana Field Hockey dropped their season opener to Kent State, 1-0, losing in the first period of overtime at home on Friday.
The loss puts the Hoosiers at 0-1 to start the season.
The game was the opener of the Hoosier Invitational, featuring Indiana, Kent State and Liberty each playing a game against one another throughout the weekend at the IU Field Hockey Complex.
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana led in shots taken, 14-6.
• The game was scoreless through four quarters before Kent State's Maia Sarrabayrouse knocked the game winner in at the 67th minute.
• The Hoosier offense created three shots and two corner opportunities in the final minutes of the fourth period but could not convert.
• Eleven of Indiana's 14 shots were on goal.
• Sophomore Yip van Wonderen took four shots with all four being on goal.
• Freshman Jule Hufer and junior Jemima Cookson each took three shots. All three of Hufer's were on goal.
• The Indiana defense only allowed Kent State to take two shots the entire first half.
