Indiana Falls 3-0 to Jacksonville State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana Volleyball team (2-1, 0-0) fell to Jacksonville State (3-0, 0-0) in the final match of the Indiana Invitational on Saturday night at Wilkinson Hall.
Despite an outstanding effort from sophomore outside hitter Mady Saris (18 kills, .244 hitting percentage), the Gamecocks outlasted the Hoosiers in straight sets 25-21, 26-24, 25-16.
Saris' 18 kills matched a career high and serves as the top mark by any player through three matches this year for the Hoosiers.
Junior middle blocker Savannah Kjolhede and freshman outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles each provided five kills apiece to pace the Hoosiers offensively.
This is the final home match for just over an entire month for the Hoosiers. The next four weekends will be spent on the road including tournaments in Corpus Christi, Raleigh, and Bowling Green.
The Hoosiers will open Big Ten Conference play on September 23rd at Penn State.
KEY MOMENTS:
• Down 11-6 in the first set, IU went on a 3-0 run to bring the game within two points. Kills from Mady Saris and Savannah Kjolhede served as a catalyst for the Hoosiers in the opening set.
• Jacksonville State took the opening set 25-21.
• Facing set point in the second game, the Hoosiers rattled off four straight points behind a pair of aces from Camryn Haworth and a kill from Mady Saris.
• The Gamecocks would ultimately win the second set with a challenge halting the Hoosiers' momentum before rattling off the final two points.
