IU Battles Back to Beat Texas A&M 3-1

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After a slow start in the first set, the Indiana Volleyball team (6-4, 0-0) responded by rattling off victories in three straight sets to takedown Texas A&M 3-1 on Friday afternoon.
The first game of the WKU Invitational, IU got double-digit kills from three athletes to beat the Aggies in a back-and-forth affair 19-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23.
This was the first victory over SEC opposition since a 2019 win over No. 15 Kentucky.
Morgan Geddes paced the way offensively with a career-high 15 kills while Mady Saris and Kaley Rammelsberg were each up to double-digits for the Hoosiers.
IU will return to action this evening for a matchup with Tennessee Tech before taking on No. 21 Western Kentucky tomorrow afternoon.
SET 1 (Texas A&M 25, Indiana 19)
• The Hoosiers used a kill from Kaley Rammelsberg and a series of Texas A&M errors to draw within 12-8 after facing a deep deficit to open the first set.
• Another kill from Kaley Rammelsberg along with back-to-back attack errors from the Aggies off of serves from Candela Alonso-Corcelles pulled IU within three at 19-16.
• Texas A&M closed out the opening set with a 25-19 victory.
SET 2 (Indiana 25, Texas A&M 22)
• Mady Saris provided a kill on a 3-0 run to put the Hoosiers up 9-5, forcing Texas A&M into an early timeout in the second frame.
• The Hoosiers forced Texas A&M into another timeout after a pair of kills from Morgan Geddes and a Savannah Kjolhede service ace put IU up 16-10.
• IU fended off a late Texas A&M rally with a kill from Kaley Rammelsberg putting the finishing touches on a second set victory for IU.
SET 3 (Indiana 25, Texas A&M 19)
• IU jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the third frame behind a pair of kills from Savannah Kjolhede and a service ace from Mady Saris.
• A 9-2 run in the middle of the third set gave IU a comfortable 18-12 lead.
• The Hoosiers closed out the third set with a pair of kills from Mady Saris and one from Morgan Geddes to take the advantage in the match.
• IU held the Aggies to a -.088 hitting percentage in the third set to spark the victory.
SET 4 (Indiana 25, Texas A&M 23)
• Mady Saris rattled off three-straight kills to level the score at 8-all in the fourth and force Texas A&M into a timeout.
• The Hoosiers went on 8-2 run to take a 14-10 lead in the middle of the fourth.
• Behind three kills from Morgan Geddes, IU closed the match on a 4-0 run to take the victory.

• Morgan Geddes posted a career-high 15 kills. This marks two times in the past three matches she's raised her career high.
• Mady Saris was into double-digit kills for the eighth time this season in a match that included a run of four-straight kills in the third set.
• Camryn Haworth posted her fifth double-double of the season after racking up 38 assists and 11 digs across four sets.
• Kaley Rammelsberg hit a resounding .40 with 11 kills on 20 attempts.
• Savannah Kjolhede matched her career high with three service aces.
