
Indiana Opens Weekend with Victory over Western Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Indiana Volleyball team (5-2, 0-0) opened their weekend at the NC State Classic with a back-and-forth, 3-1 victory over Western Carolina.
A balanced attack offensively, which featured five Hoosiers reaching double-digit kills, was enough to dispatch of the Catamounts on Thursday morning 25-22, 25-20 22-25, 26-24.
Outside hitters Mady Saris and Candela Alonso-Corcelles and setter Camryn Haworth all recorded double-doubles.
This marks the third-straight victory for the Hoosiers. IU continues the weekend later this evening with a matchup against the host Wolfpack.
KEY MOMENTS
• Down six points, the Hoosiers subbed in Emily Fitzner to serve and promptly went on a 4-0 run to draw within two points.
• A series of kills from Mady Saris, Savannah Kjolhede and Camryn Haworth gave IU the lead late in the first set at 21-20.
• Mady Saris provided a late kill before Western Carolina's bad set on match point closed out an opening set victory for IU at 25-22.
