Gebhardt, Marshall Join Sub-4 Minute Mile Club on Successful Second Day at Commodore Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Behind productive afternoons from Jenna Barker, Mahogany Jenkins, Jake Gebhardt and Jayden Ulrich, the Indiana Track and Field teams claimed eight event titles on the final day of the Commodore Challenge.
The first full weekend of the 2023 season featured 43 personal bests across both day of competitions.
Noah Koch opened the day for the Hoosiers, taking a third-place finish with a personal best of 17.43m/57-2.25 in the Shot Put. Adam Strouf followed behind in fourth with a mark of 16.74m/54-11.25.
Jenna Barker (4:42.74) and Maddie Dalton (4:43.66) led a 1-2 punch in the Mile as seven Hoosiers finished with personal bests in the same race.
Jake Gebhardt (3:59.18) and Camden Marshall (3:59.30) joined the elite sub-four-minute club in the Mile at Indiana. Gebhardt shaved over four seconds off his personal best and moved into No. 9 in program history while Marshall takes over the No. 10 spot.
Robert Blue made his season and IU debut in the Triple Jump, leaping out to a mark of 15.47m/50-9.25.
Mahogany Jenkins continued a productive weekend by recording a mark of 12.69m/41-7.75 in the Triple Jump, moving into No. 3 in school history. Kelly Moran was also out to a personal best of 11.66m/38-3.25.
Jessica Mercier cleared the bar at 3.85m/12-7.5 in the Pole Vault with Taylor Jarosinski over the bar at 3.55m/11-7.75.
Alyssa Robinson ran 7.50 in the prelims and 7.51 in the finals of the 60 meters to finish fifth on the afternoon. Antonio Laidler was fourth on the men's side in 6.74.
After storming to a top-10 school mark in the 300 meters last night, David Olowookere came back to lay down a personal best of 48.77 in the 400 meters.
Just an hour-and-a-half after running a sub-four-minute mile, Jake Gebhardt came back and ran a four-second personal best in the 800 meters of 1:51.85. Three other Hoosiers ran personal bests in the same race.
Jayden Ulrich put the shot 17.14m/56-2.75, becoming the fifth Hoosier to go over 17 meters indoors. Her mark would rank No. 2 in the NCAA this year entering the day's action.
The Hoosiers return to action next weekend for the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington.
