Indiana Field Hockey falls to No. 15 Penn State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Indiana dropped a home matchup to No. 15 Penn State, 3-1, on Friday afternoon.
Penn State built an early 2-0 lead in the first half, but Indiana built a number of chances and opportunities to battle back. The consistent offensive pressure led to a Yip van Wonderen goal in the third quarter to make it 2-1. Penn State would later respond with another goal to seal the game as a 3-1 final.
With the loss, the Hoosiers now stand at 5-13 on the season while being 0-8 in Big Ten play.
KEY MOMENTS
• Pen State started the game quickly with a goal on a penalty stroke in the second minute by Mackenzie Allessie.
• The Hoosiers' defense would hold the Nittany Lions to only one shot in the second quarter. However, that shot would result in an unassisted goal by Sophia Gladieux.
• Indiana would come out of halftime and get their first goal of the game from junior back Yip van Wonderen in the 32nd minute.
• Gladieux would score the game-sealing goal for Penn State in the 43rd minute to extend their lead to 3-1. She was assisted by Anouk Knuvers.
