CHICAGO, Ill. - The Indiana Track and Field teams opened the Windy City Invitational with a pair of big performances that featured a 70-foot weight throw and a 3:57 mile on Friday night in Chicago.
The final big weekend before the Big Ten Indoor Championships saw a handful of Hoosiers climb the conference's descending order list late in the season.
Sean Mockler opened up the evening, launching a big personal best in the Weight Throw of 21.57m/70-9.25. His throw made him just the second Hoosier in program history to go over 70 meters in the event.
His series included marks of 20.52m, 20.96m, 21.31m, 20.96m, 20.96m and 21.57m enroute to a fourth-place finish in the event.

On the women's side, Jayden Ulrich grabbed a personal best with a big mark at 19.38m/63-7. All three athletes better their personal bests and keep their spot in the program's top-10 list.
Riley Johnston cleared a personal best of 5.14m/16-10.25 in the Pole Vault on his final attempt at the height in the first section of the Pole Vault at the Windy City Invite. Teammates Nathan Stone and Tyler Carrel are set to compete tomorrow.
Hope Purcell (6.00m/19-8.25) and Serena Bolden (6.02m/19-9) both reached the six-meter plateau in the Long Jump this evening at the Windy City Invite and Hoosier Hills meets respectively.
The Hoosiers finished fourth and fifth respectively in the Men's 60 meters at Windy City Invite behind performances from Antonio Laidler (6.74) and Christopher Grant (6.78).
