-Michigan State currently stands at 8-6 overall and 1-6 in conference. Michigan holds a 9-3 mark with a 4-2 Big Ten mark.
MICHIGAN MANIA:
-The Indiana and Michigan State matchup has made for a number of great duals over the years.
-Four of the last five meetings have been decided by five points or less. Last year, Michigan State barely edged Indiana in Wilkinson Hall, winning 17-15.
-This year should feature another exciting battle as both teams have five ranked wrestlers in their lineup. There should be two ranked vs. ranked matches, as well, with No. 29 Henry Porter taking on No. 17 Rayvon Foley at 133 and No. 20 Derek Gilcher vs. No. 12 Chase Saldate at 157.
-The Gilcher-Saldate showdown will be a rematch. Gilcher previously edged Saldate by decision at the Tournament of Champions in December.
-Some of Michigan State's notable wins include a 37-9 victory over Maryland and a 33-0 sweep of American. Additionally, Michigan State beat two foes at the Garden State Grapple that Indiana beat as well, in Binghamton and Princeton.
-Michigan is having another strong season following their 2022 Big Ten Championships title and second-place finish at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
-Michigan has five ranked victories thus far: No. 16 North Carolina, No. 25 Cal Poly, No. 21 Michigan State, No. 14 Wisconsin and No. 24 Rutgers. All but the Wisconsin dual were on the road.
-Of their routine starting lineup, the Wolverines boast nine ranked wrestlers. Four of them, No. 9 Will Lewan (157), No. 4 Cameron Amine (165), No. 8 Matt Finesilver (184) and No. 1 Mason Parris are in the top ten for their weight class.
