
Hoosiers Win 12 Straight, Sweep Series Over NSU, Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Indiana Softball (19-9) swept the series against Northwestern State (13-12) and Memphis (4-22) at the Tigers Softball Complex on Saturday, continuing their win streak to 12.
INDIANA 11, NORTHWESTERN STATE 6
KEY MOMENTS
• Freshman Taryn Kern was hot early as she homered to right center in the top of the first inning.
• In the top of the third, Indiana would find their rhythm as they scored six runs on seven hits in the inning for six RBI.
• Senior Abby Meeks scored another in the fourth as she hit a base hit deep into right field, 8-0.
• The Hoosiers added on two more runs after a two RBI hit to left field from Parker.
• The Lady Demons would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit, 10-3.
• Kern went yard for the second time in the top of the second as she sent one over the wall in center field.
• NSU added three runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh, but Indiana would secure their 11th straight win on the season.
INDIANA 6, MEMPHIS 1
KEY MOMENTS
• Indiana started the game off with another home run in the top of the second, but this time from sophomore Brianna Copeland.
• The Hoosiers continued the offensive momentum into the third inning, scoring two runs on a sac fly from Bassett and a Kern RBI single though the right side.
• IU had their defense on lockdown as they fanned the first three batters in the bottom of the second, third and fourth innings with one double play.
• Sophomore Taylor Minnick hit a double to center field for another RBI extending IU's lead, 4-0.
• In the top of the seventh, Minnick connected again with another RBI double to center field followed by a power hit from Stone to right field for an RBI, 6-0.
• Memphis added a run in the bottom of the inning with a double down the left field line for an RBI.
NOTABLES
• Indiana improves to 19-9 on the season, winning 12 straight games for the longest streak since 2019 where the Hoosiers won 14 straight to start the season.
• Kern added two more home runs today making that nine on the season. She hit .875 on the weekend totaling nine runs, seven hits, one double and four home runs. The San Jose, Calif., native also totaled 10 RBI and five free passes in the weekend series.
• Minnick hit .533 on the weekend with two doubles and five RBI.
• Copeland went yard for her third home run this season. She also improved to 8-0 inside the circle picking up a win against Northwestern State.
• Junior Macy Montgomery earned the win against the Tigers improving to 4-3 on the season.
• Indiana tallied 16 hits versus NSU after connecting with 16 in game one against Memphis.
UP NEXT
Indiana will begin conference play as they host the No. 22 ranked Maryland Terrapins this weekend at Andy Mohr Field on March 24-26.
