GAINESVILLE, Fla. - A consistent day in his outdoor debut for Indiana earned Noah Koch a place on the program's shot put and discus throw all-time top-10 list.
He opened Saturday's events by throwing the discus out to 55.70m/182-9 on his third attempt of the afternoon. That throw moved him into seventh in school history and marked the best performance in the event from an IU athlete since 2005.
To follow that up, he came back in the shot put and recorded a mark of 18.04m/59-2.25 to move into a tie for tenth in program history. Already a point scorer indoors, Koch's versatility will allow him to be a threat in both events at the conference's outdoor meet.
The Aurora, Ohio native is one of four Hoosiers to hold top-10 marks outdoors in both events and to throw 55.7+ meters (discus) and 18.04+ meters (shot put).
Mahogany Jenkins was just as busy on Saturday, doubling in the high jump and triple jump. She cleared 1.70m/5-7 and 1.75m/5-8.75 on the first attempt before missing on three tries at 1.80m/5-10.75.
In the triple jump she got straight to work, recording a lifetime best on her fifth and sixth attempts of the afternoon. A personal best mark of 12.86m/42-2.25 moves her into third in program history in the event.
Only two Hoosiers have triple jumped 13 meters or better in their career with Jenkins inching closer to that mark this season.
Nathan Stone and the pole vault crew opened their accounts outdoors on Saturday afternoon. Stone, a four-time conference champion, cleared 5.28m/17-3.75 to finish second.
Tyler Carrel was over the bar at 5.13m/16-10 with Riley Johnston behind him at 4.98m/16-4.
Christopher Grant ran 10.38 across 100 meters to pair with his 21.33 at 200 meters on Friday. The Jamaican is in his first season with IU after transferring from Auburn and has played a big role as the anchor of the Hoosiers' 4x100 relay team.
Micah Camble (48.45) and Kaylee Lane (57.23) both ran personal bests in the 400 meters with Taylor Schoonveld making her collegiate debut outdoors in the High Jump.
