BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––––– It's going to be another loaded weekend for Indiana Men's Tennis, who hosts two ranked opponents from the Great Lakes State at the IU Tennis Center.
On Saturday, Indiana will face No. 6 Michigan at noon, and on Sunday it'll be No. 69 Michigan State, also playing at noon. The match against Michigan State will also serve as Senior Day.
Senior Day festivities will take place after the conclusion of the Michigan State match. The team will recognize Patrick Fletchall, Carson Haskins, Mac Rogers and Luka Vukovic.
Saturday and Sunday's competition will be the final two regular season home matches for the Hoosiers. They will not be the last matches that IU plays at home this year, though, as Indiana is hosting the Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament at the end of the month.
The Hoosiers enter the weekend with a 12-10 record and a 1-4 mark in Big Ten play.
Freshman Sam Landau leads the team in singles play, coming off a 2-0 weekend last time out while sporting a 12-1 record. Landau has been a rock for the Hoosiers at No. 3 singles all year and has not lost a match since Feb. 25.
In doubles, Indiana's duo of Patrick Fletchall and Ilya Tiraspolsky have been fantastic at the No. 1 spot, posting a 10-2 record.
For their opponents, Michigan is having a very strong season with an 18-3 record and a 4-1 Big Ten mark. The Wolverines have defeated seven ranked teams and have been ranked in the top ten all year.
Michigan State is 8-11 overall and 1-4 in the Big Ten. The Spartans own victories over No. 61 Drake twice, No. 69 Virginia Tech and Penn State, among others.
Live scoring will be available for both matches while live video will only be available if the matches are played indoors.
