Haskett, Bates Earn Second-Place Finishes at John McNichols Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Graduate Austin Haskett and senior Phoebe Bates led the Hoosiers with a pair of second-place finishes at the John McNichols Invitational at the LaVern Gibson, hosted by Indiana State, early Saturday morning.
The men's squad finished third as a team with 68 points behind Purdue and Belmont while the women posted a second-place finish with 69 points behind Belmont.
Haskett crossed the line with a time of 24:17.9 followed by a personal-best from Skylar Stidam (third, 24.19.4).
Abe Eckman rounded out the top-10 finishers with a personal best time of 24:25.3 in the 8K race while the Hoosiers posted three additional personal best times.
Bates posted a personal best time of 17:26.8 as the top-finisher in the women's 5K race. Sophomore Claire Overfelt finished the race with a personal best time of 17:31.6.
Teammate Tori Schmidt (15th, 17:50.4), Lily Myers (27th, 18:19.3), Emma Everhart-Deckard (31st, 18:22.0) and Allie Latta (42nd, 18:37.5).
