Hoosiers Ready for Big Ten Road Trip

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Indiana men's soccer returns to Big Ten Conference play on Friday (Sept. 22), its first league road match, taking on undefeated and No. 18-ranked Michigan State in East Lansing.
Fans can stream the match on the Big Ten Plus digital platform, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
SETTING THE SCENE
• Both Indiana and Michigan State tied their conference openers and will be eager to capture three points.
• IU is coming off a win over Butler in which it scored early and threatened often. Samuel Sarver's 10th-minute score was the difference in the 1-0 derby dub as the Hoosiers matched their season shots average of 16, which ranks No. 15 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten.
• The win was IU's second straight shutout and fourth clean sheet in seven matches this season. Indiana has conceded three goals to register a 0.429 goals against average which ranks No. 5 nationally. The Hoosiers have not allowed multiple goals in any match.

• Michigan State is 4-2-0 and coming off a 1-1 draw at Rutgers on Sunday.
• The Spartans are led by 15th-year head coach Damon Rensing, who has compiled a 140-103-39 record at MSU.
• Michigan State has scored eight goals from seven different players. Sophomore defender Jeremy Sharp leads the Spartans with three assists.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana has dominated the all-time series with Michigan State, owning a 44-8-5 record against the Spartans. The Hoosiers won the first 30 matchups and, recently, have not lost to MSU since 2015. In that span, IU is 6-0-3.
• In last year's matchup, Brett Bebej's first-half goal was canceled out by MSU's Grayson Mercer in the 72nd minute, and the teams settled for a draw. Bebej has the goal and one assist in his career against the Spartans.
• The last time the Hoosiers went to East Lansing, Indiana rode Patrick McDonald's first-career goal in the 48th minute to a 1-0 win. Seven of IU's last eight wins over MSU have been decided by one goal.
• IU owns a 5-3 record against Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament. In 1996, 2001 and 2013, the Hoosiers defeated the Spartans in tournament finals.
