Big Ten Breakdown: Week 5

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Big Ten Volleyball season is off and running in 2023. Perhaps the nation's deepest conference, the Big Ten offers a wide variety of physical and skillful teams that have a shot at making the NCAA Tournament this year.

After the first week of Big Ten play, here's how things shake out in the conference.

BIG TEN WEEK IN REVIEW
• Nebraska and Wisconsin went 2-0 on the week to remain undefeated. Nebraska did so by beating top-25 Ohio State and Minnesota.
• Penn State and Purdue each produced 2-0 weekends to start their Big Ten slates.
• 10 teams won at least one game on the week.
• Only Michigan, Northwestern and Rutgers have failed to win a set in Big Ten play this year.

AT A GLANCE
• Six Big Ten teams are ranked in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll including four in the top-15 (Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota, Penn State)
• All six teams were ranked in the top-22.
• Nebraska and Wisconsin are the lone remaining undefeated teams in the Big Ten and hold the No. 1 and 2 rankings in the nation.
• Only Michigan and Ohio State are below .500 but have both played tough schedules to this point.
• Big Ten play heads into Week 2 featuring a big matchup on Wednesday night with #1 Wisconsin at #22 Ohio State.
