COLLEGE PARK, Md. – A strong defensive effort for the Indiana Volleyball team (12-10, 5-7 B1G) paved the way for a big road sweep (25-21, 25-22, 25-23) of Maryland on Saturday (Nov. 2) night in College Park. IU limited Maryland to just a hitting percentage of .116 while digging 42 balls and racking up eight blocks in a comfortable victory.
The Hoosiers picked up their third-straight win in the Big Ten ahead of a massive weekend at Wilkinson Hall. This is IU's first three-game winning streak in conference play since Oct. 7-14, 2023. IU has won three-straight matches in College Park and four of the last five overall against the Terrapins.
Senior setter Camryn Haworth filled up the stat sheet for the Hoosiers in the victory. She tallied 29 assists, seven digs and five kills. She added a pair of aces, taking her past 200 for her illustrious career. Haworth is just the fourth Big Ten player in the rally-scoring era to hit the 200-ace threshold.
Junior opposite Avry Tatum led the way offensively with 13 kills. Fellow junior outside hitter Candela Alonso-Corcelles was in double figures with 11. Haworth's five kills made up for a slow offensive evening on the outside from senior Mady Saris. Junior middle blocker Madi Sell had four kills.
Sophomore libero Ramsey Gary handled the back row efforts with a match high 15 digs. Alonso-Corcelles and sophomore middle blocker Ava Vickers each had a hand in five blocks. Maryland got just 14 kills from its three pins with those players forced into 12 attacking errors by the Hoosiers.
A massive opportunity awaits IU next weekend at Wilkinson Hall. Purdue (Friday) and USC (Sunday) will visit Bloomington with a chance for the Hoosiers to add a resume-boosting win to the ledger. Friday will be a "White Out" and is Sold Out to the general public.
