Meet Central: IUTF Hosts Indiana Early Bird Meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana track and field teams are set to kick off the indoor season on Friday with the Indiana Early Bird meet at Gladstein Fieldhouse.
The Hoosiers will host 12 teams on Friday including Butler, Cincinnati, Evansville, Indiana Kokomo, IU Indy, Marian, Pikeville, Saint Louis, SE Missouri, St. Francis, St. Norbert and Wingate competing across 36 events. The first event will begin at noon with the men's and women's pentathlon.
Indiana has entered athletes in a combined 28 events on the men's and women's side.
The Hoosiers will also present a strong freshman class across each event group with six high school state champions and a group of local, regional and international talent. IU will also return All-American duo and conference medalists Tyler Carrel (Pole Vault) and Sean Mockler (Throws) in the field and veteran standouts in Mahogany Jenkins (Jumps) and Martin Segurola (Distance).

THE HOOSIER LINEUP
Combined:
Garrett Messer and Max Grangier return to the track and field as they open their season with the pentathlon which includes hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and the 1000-meter race.
Freshman Elle Knepp will also enter in the pentathlon on the women's side as she makes her collegiate debut.
Sprints and Hurdles:
Junior Jania Hodges will make her first appearance with the Hoosiers in the 60-meter hurdles. John Colquitt will hurdle in the event on the men's side.
The men's 60-meter dash will include two freshmen in Dezmone Starks and Christian Woodson along with senior Trelee Banks. Freshman Aliyah Johnson is entered on the women's side in her first collegiate race.
The 200-meter sprint is stacked on both sides for the Hoosiers. Freshman Kiera Davis, Hodges and Symone Adams will look to set the tone for the Hoosiers. Otto De St Jeor, Banks and Starks will race on the men's side.
Continuing with the long-distance sprinters, junior Kylee Poulton and sophomore Cambell Wamsley are entered in the 400 meters. Freshman duo CJ Martin and Cameron Mullens will look to take care of business on the men's side as they make their collegiate debuts.
Five Hoosiers will race in the 300 meters with senior Morgan Snow, sophomore Kristina Vincic and freshman Aliyah Johnson running on the men's side and junior Novo Onovwerosuoke and freshman Christian Woodson entered on the men's side.
Distance & Mid-Distance:
Sophomore's Ryann Parrish and Amelia Dodds are set to run the 600 meters with a pair of freshmen in Joey Rastrelli and Jessica Hegedus running the mile.
Segurola and juniors Nolan Satterfield and Andrew Mangum will run the men's mile. Mangum is also entered in the 800 meters along with freshman Mary Eubank on the women's side.
Senior Claire Overfelt and a trio of freshman in Ines Herault, Eubank and Addison Price will open the season in the women's 3,000 meters.
Jumps:
Junior Kelly Moran will compete in the long and triple jumps. Returning long jumper Alex Smith will open his season in the event alongside freshman Vince Davero.
Sophomore Deepak Laungani will compete in the men's high jump with the women's squad of Jenkins, junior Taylor Schoonveld and freshman Josie Page looking to clear their first bars of the season.
Pole Vault:
Carrel returns to the runway along with talented freshman Peyton McQuinn as he makes his collegiate debut.
Throws:
The throws group looks to get off to a great start with five freshmen entering the ring.
Freshman thrower Hannah Alexander will make her debut in the weight throw alongside sophomore Bridget Beyer. Senior Tyler Reyna will return to the ring for the Hoosiers along with freshmen duo Caleb Smith and Nikolaos Sidirenios.
The men's squad will also see freshmen Dane Sebert and Seth Brosseau throw the shot.
