Hoosiers Head to Notre Dame for Meyo Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana track and field hits the road again as they travel up north to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational. The throwers and sprinters will return back to action after a week off.

Last Time Out:
The pole vaulters competed at Louisville last weekend where Nathan Stone posted a season-best performance and a third-place finish in the Elite group with a clearance of 5.42m/17-09.25. His mark leads the conference and is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation.
Jessica Mercier earned the first one of the days in the pole vault. She cleared a height of 4.18m/13-08.50 to place second in the women's seeded pole vault to land a top-three finish for the third week in a row.
The distance group ran at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston last weekend.
Phoebe Bates finished in the top-25 in the 5000-meter race with a time of 16:44.64 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic. Tori Schmidt also ran a personal best time of 17:22.04.
Katelyn Winton ran the 3000 meters posting a time of 9:53.48.
The men's distance squad ran their first DMR of the season in Boston, clocking a time of 9:44.58.
The Hoosier Lineup:
Sprints:
Symone Adams and Kristina Vincic will race in the 60 meters and 200 meters as they look to make consistent improvements.
Oliva Gee will jump the 60-meter Hurdles and race in the 200 meter dash. Kenisha Phillips will also join the group in the 200 meters.
Phillips, Morgan Snow and Cambell Wamsley are entered to race the 400 meters while Ryann Parrish represents the Hoosiers in the 600 meters.
Parrish, Phillips, Snow, Vincic, Wamsley are entered to run the 4x400 relay.
Ray Brodie and Antonio Laidler will run the short 60-meter dash as well as the 200 meters. Trelee Banks and Gage Pratt will join them in the 200-meter sprint.
IU has entered John Colquitt will take care of the 60-meter Hurdles for the Hoosiers.
In the long sprints, Micah Camble and Vincente Graiani will race in the 400 meters.
Colquitt, Camble, Graiani and Laidler will all race a leg of the men's 4x400 relay.
Distance and Mid-Distance:
The men will race three in the mid-distance group with Nico Colchico, Jaylen Castillo and Keefer Soehngen in the 600 meters. Castillo and Soengen will also get another opportunity in the 800 meters.
On the distance side, Abe Eckman returns to the track as he races in the 3k event. Four Hoosiers will race the Mile including Owen Forberg, Clayton Guthrie, Andrew Mangum and Nolan Satterfield. Brayden Henkle, Garrett Hicks, and Cole Raymond will race the 5k at Notre Dame.
Phoebe Bates and Grace Tyson will run the Mile and the 3k alongside each other. A total of three athletes including Emma Everhart-Deckard, Tori Schmidt and Katelyn Winton in the 5k.
Pole Vault:
The pole vaulters are coming off a great weekend in Louisville while they continue to make improvements at Notre Dame. Jessica Mercier will represent the women's side.
The men will send a trio of guys including Nathan Stone, Tyler Carrel and Riley Johnston as they face competitive competition on the men's side.
Stone's mark leads the Big Ten while Mercier is tied for third in the league. Johnston is ready to build on his current mark to get ready for the indoor championships.
Multis:
Garrett Messer and Max Grangier will focus on two events a part of the Heptathlon with the 60-meter hurdles and the Long Jump.
Throws:
After taking the weekend off from competition, the throwers return to the circle as they look to improve their marks.
All six Hoosiers will throw the weight including Bridget Beyer, Emily Herndon, Makayla Hunter and three on the men's side Sean Mockler, Tyler Reyna and Hunter Smith.
"This is the first week that we haven't been loaded in the weight room, assistant coach (throws) Megan Tomei said. "I am excited to see what we do inside the circle. We have been successful in achieving PRs across the board while being loaded in the weight room and the throw. I am looking forward to seeing how everyone performs as we get into more of a peak base."
