Dominant Offense Highlights No. 15 Indiana In Pair Of Wins At Bruno Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 15 Indiana added two more wins to its season with a perfect 4-0 finish at the Bruno Invitational on Sunday in victories over Ponoma Pitzer (16-6) and host Brown (11-6) at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The Hoosiers also improve to an unblemished 8-0 to start the 2024 season.

KEY MOMENTS VS. PONOMA PITZER
- Senior Kallie White and junior Skylar Kidd chipped in two goals as Indiana's lead grew to 8-2 in the first half. Six different players scored goals in the first and second quarter.
- Sophomore Sophia Sollie, senior Kiki Mein and sophomore Louisa Downes all got on the board in the third, as the Hoosiers and Sagehens tied at three goals apiece in the frame to keep the lead at six, 11-5.
- The Hoosiers' defense allowed just one goal in the fourth quarter as it added six goals by six different players including Sollie and Kidd's hat tricks to close out the 16-6 win.
KEY MOMENTS
First quarter
- Indiana got on the board first at the 5:04 mark on a goal from Downes who got the dish from White. It started a 7-0 run for the Hoosiers that extended through the second quarter as Kidd notched two goals in the opening two periods.
- It would help the Hoosiers take an 8-2 lead at the break. White added her second goal of the game as the only scoring for IU in the third, as Brown got two back near the end of the frame to make it 9-4.
- Sollie added a pair of goals in the fourth to complete her hat trick as Indian cruised to a win over the host Bears, 11-6.
NOTES VS. PONOMA PITZER
- Sollie and Kidd each had hat tricks for the Hoosiers in game one against Ponoma Pitzer.
- Higgs added 10 saves in the win, while also chipping in an assist.
- Mein, White and Downes all added two goals each against the Sagehens. Klinger had a team-high four assists.
- Hathaway, Kidd and Wazzan picked up two steals each as Indiana had 10 against Ponoma Pitzer
NOTES VS. BROWN
- Sollie had her second hat trick of the day to lead IU with a team-high three goals. She also had two steals and earned an exclusion.
- Kidd, White and Downes also added two goals a piece against the host team Bears.
- Kidd led the way with three assists while White and junior Portia Sasser had two. The Hoosiers had 11 assists on 11 made shots.
- Higgs recorded 13 saves in goal for the Hoosiers in the win.
