ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Indiana track and field wrapped up day one of the Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships at U-M Track and Field Stadium in Ann Arbor on Friday night with two podium finishes, 10 personal bests and four Hoosiers advancing to finals in their respective events.
Sean Mockler led the Hoosiers after he scored six points with a third-place finish in the Hammer throw. He won his second bronze medal in his career with a throw of 66.78m/219-1 in the finals.
Mockler faced some challenges throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons that required patience and it paid off today with a positive result and a podium finish for the Hoosiers.
"Despite facing setbacks, we've tailored a specialized program for him this season to ensure he can strive towards his full potential," assistant coach for throws Megan Tomei said. "And we continue to anticipate more developments as we approach the postseason."
Skylar Stidam also landed on the podium after he finished fourth in a competitive 10,000-meter race. He crossed the line with a time of 29:34.32 to bring IU's point total to 11 with five points.
