BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's soccer hits the road for the first time this season as they look to face Xavier. The Hoosiers will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio and play the Musketeers from Corcoran Field on Wednesday, August 26th at 6:30 pm EST.
After a 2-0-1 record to start the year at home, the Hoosiers look to earn their first road win of the season.
ABOUT THE COACHES
ABOUT THE MUSKATEERS
Katy Eletman leads Xavier in her first season at the helm. The former Associate Head Coach took over after the Musketeers finished last season 16-4-2, winning the Big East Tournament. Through the start of the season their record stands at 1-1-0 with a recent no contest against Michigan.
Last Time Out
The Hoosiers travel away from Bill Armstrong Stadium after finishing a three-game home stand last Friday against Bellarmine.
Indiana came out of the gate strong, taking 10 shot attempts through the first half and holding the Knights to zero.
In the final minute before the half, a penalty was called in the box that allowed defender Piper Cofield to step up for her second penalty kick of the season. She found the top right corner to take the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half continued to see pressure applied by the Hoosiers forcing Bellarmine to make four saves and seven fouls through the game.
Bellarmine was rewarded a penalty kick in the final minute of play tying the game with only second remaining.
The Hoosiers were unable to score ending the game in the first draw of the season.
HOOSIER STATS
Bella Haggerty remains the leading goal scorer, tallying two in the season opener. Kennedy Neighbors, Aleyna Quinn, Maggie Ledwith, and Piper Coffield follow each scoring one goal.
Haggerty and Ledwith lead the Hoosiers in total points with four apiece. Neighbors follows behind with three along with Quinn who has two. Jenna Chatterton, Emma Ehret, and Ella Stanley also have one point each for the Hoosiers.
17 Hoosiers have recorded a shot this season. Ledwith leads the way with 11 shot attempts, followed by Neighbors and Hamm with seven and six, respectively. Coffield and Quinn have added four shots apiece, with Haggerty, Stanley, and Fishel recording three.
