Hoosiers Ready for US Olympic Diving Trials

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Six current and former Indiana University divers will head to Indianapolis starting on Saturday looking to earn a trip to Rio at the 2016 US Olympic Diving Trials at the newly-renovated IU Natatorium.
Current Hoosiers Jessica Parratto, Michael Hixon, Joshua Arndt and Lacey Houser will join former IU standouts Amy Cozad and Darian Schmidt at the Olympic Diving Trials which will run from Saturday, June 18 to Sunday, June 26.

Qualifying for Team USA
At the Trials, scores will be cumulative over three lists of dives (preliminaries, semifinals and finals). The top team in each of the men's synchronized 3-meter, men's synchronized 10-meter and women's synchronized 10-meter events will be selected to the U.S. Olympic Team.
In the individual events, the top two finishers in the men's 3-meter, men's 10-meter and women's 10-meter events and the top finisher in the women's 3-meter event will be named to the team.

Hoosier Divers on Team USA
The Indiana diving program has seen 13 divers in its history appear in 18 Olympics for Team USA. In total, those 13 divers have combined to win six medals – three gold and three bronze.
For the Hoosier men, IU great Mark Lenzi won the gold medal in the 3-meter in Barcelona in 1992, before taking bronze in the 3-meter in Atlanta in 1996. Ken Sitzberger won gold in springboard diving in 1964, while Jim Henry won bronze in springboard in 1968.
On the women's side, Leslie Bush won gold in the platform dive in 1964, while Cynthia Potter won bronze in the 3-meter in 1976.
