Indiana Returns Home to Battle for the Golden Boot

LAST TIME OUT
• The Hoosiers traveled to Michigan last weekend to open Big Ten play. Indiana defeated Michigan State on Thursday night behind sophomore Chandra Davidson's third game-winning goal of the year and freshman Bethany Kopel's fourth shutout. On Sunday, Davidson found the back of the net again, but Indiana's comeback bid at Michigan fell short as the Wolverines came away with a 2-1 victory.
ROAD WARRIORS
• Indiana posted a 4-2-1 record in the seven games away from Bill Armstrong Stadium. Not counting the neutral site game against Memphis, the Hoosiers are 4-1-1 in true road games.
• During that time, IU visited Michigan twice (Western Michigan, Michigan State and Michigan), Tennessee (Vanderbilt and Memphis) and Texas (SMU and North Texas).
HOOSIER NOTABLES
• Davidson leads the Hoosiers with 11 points, including five goals.
• Three of Davidson's goals have been gamewinners, which is third-most in the Big Ten and tied for 12th in the nation.
• 10 different Hoosiers have recorded an assist this season.
• Indiana has netted nine of its 14 goals in the second half this year, out-scoring its opponents in the final 45 minutes, 9-4.
• After scoring just two first-half goals leading in to Indiana's Sept. 10 game at North Texas, the Hoosiers have scored in the first half in the last three games.
• Following the 1-0 win at Michigan State, freshman Bethany Kopel has now recorded four shutouts this season, which is tied for 28th nationally and third-most amongst freshmen, with a 1.08 goals against average. The Novi, Mich. native has 50 saves, which is good for third in the Big Ten and tied for 37th nationally, In addition, she is tied for the fifth-most saves amongst freshmen in the country.
• The first RPI of the season was announced on Monday, with Indiana coming in at No. 42.
GOLDEN BOOT
• Indiana and Purdue are playing for the Golden Boot trophy on Saturday night.
• The Boilermakers lead the all-time series, 4-13-4. However, in the last five seasons, IU has a 3-1-1 advantage. Head coach Amy Berbary is 2-1-1 all-time against Purdue.
• Indiana's last Golden Boot victory at Armstrong Stadium came in 2012.
• Last season, the teams played to a 2-2 draw in West Lafayette with Mykayla Brown scoring both goals for the Hoosiers, including the equalizer in the 82nd minute.
SCOUTING PURDUE
• At 7-2, Purdue is off to its best start through nine games since the 2008 season. In addition, the Boilermakers are 2-0 to start Big Ten action for the first time since 2007. Last weekend, Purdue defeated Michigan, 1-0, before a 6-2 win at Michigan State.
• Maddy Williams was awarded consecutive Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week accolades after scoring two goals and adding three assists against the Spartans. Kylie Hase was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after scoring the gamewinner at Michigan.
• Williams leads the conference in points (23), goals (8), game-winning goals (4) and assists (7). Andrea Petrina has scored five goals with four assists while Hannah Melchiorre has netted four goals and added three assists. The Boilermakers are out-scoring opponents this season, 24-9.
• In goal, Katie Luce has carried most of the workload, amassing a 1.03 goals against average with 28 saves.
• Purdue came in at No. 22 in the first RPI of the season.
