Hoosier Men Win, Women Second At Sam Bell Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Men's Cross Country team took home the team title while the women placed second at the Sam Bell Invitational at the IU Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday morning.
The men's team took first place with 38 points including four top-10 finishers, led by sophomore Ben Veatch. Veatch finished third overall in the men's 8K with a time of 24:40.62. Redshirt sophomore Kyle Mau was the second IU runner to cross, finishing fourth overall with the time of 24:44.94.
Redshirt freshman Cooper Williams finished sixth over (24:51.66) and redshirt junior Kyle Burks finished eighth overall with the time of 24:54.47. Redshirt junior Joe Murphy, redshirt sophomore Bryce Millar and redshirt freshman Cameron Clements closed out the IU field.
Finishing behind IU was Columbia, Guelph, Nebraska and Miami (OH) to round out the top five.
The women's team was paced by three top-10 finishes and had 47 points, coming in behind Big Ten foe Michigan who won the event with 37 points. IU was led by redshirt junior Katherine Receveur, who finished first overall in the women's 6K with a time of 20:14.08, which also set a new Hoosier record in a women's 6K race at the IU Championship Cross Country Course. Receveur's time broke the previous Hoosier record of 21:01.06 that held by Sarah Pease (2009).
Junior Maggie Allen was the second IU runner to cross, finishing fifth (20:54.15) while redshirt junior Brenna Calder came in seventh (21:06.74). Junior Haley Harris, sophomore Lexa Barrott, redshirt sophomore Kelsey Harris and redshirt freshman Stacy Morozov finished out the scoring for the Hoosiers. Michigan, Indiana, Columbia, Bradley and Miami (OH) rounded out the top five team finishers.
The Hoosiers will be back in action the second week of October where they will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to compete in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on October 13 at 12:20 p.m. EST.
