IU Falls to No. 7 UCLA, 4-1

Los Angeles – The Indiana men's tennis team (2-2) fell to the No. 7 UCLA Bruins (1-0), 4-1, in the first match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on the campus of UCLA.
The doubles point came down to the third spot after the Bruins won at No. 1 and Bennett Crane and Carson Haskins won 6-4 at No. 2. After a close battle on No. 3, UCLA came out on top with a 6-4 win and the doubles point.
IU quickly got on the board in singles when Carson Haskins' opponent at No. 5 retired in the first set. The Bruins followed with three wins of their own at the No. 1, 2, and 3 spots. At the remaining two unfinished spots, No. 110 ranked Zac Brodney split the first two sets at No. 4 and Andrew Redding was edged in a first set tiebreaker at No. 6.
The Hoosiers will finish the ITA Kick-Off Weekend tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 26 with a match against the Ole Miss Rebels (2-2) at 9 PM.
