Hoosiers Finish Strong at ITA Kick-Off Weekend with 4-2 Win

Los Angeles – The Indiana men's tennis team (3-2) closed out the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a 4-2 win over the Ole Miss Rebels (2-3) Saturday night on the campus of UCLA. Los Angeles native Zac Brodney clinched the match for IU.
Doubles play saw the Rebels win the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to earn the point. On the No. 1 court, Brandon Lam and Patrick Fletchall led 5-4 before the match went unfinished.
Trailing 1-0, IU came out firing in singles with three straight wins. At No. 6, Andrew Redding won 6-1, 6-3 followed by Carson Haskins winning at No. 5. Slated in the top spot, Antonio Cembellin came out on top, 6-4, 6-3, pushing Indiana's lead to 3-1.
The Rebels responded with a straight set win at No. 3, leaving two courts in the third set to decide the winner. Securing the victory for the Hoosiers was none other than hometown kid Zac Brodney, who won 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot.
Up next, Indiana returns home to host a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 1 against Wright State at Noon and Middle Tennessee at 6 PM.
