Weekend Notes

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— Indiana Field Hockey (4-7, 1-3) faces road test at Rutgers (5-5, 0-2) and Maryland (11-1, 3-0) this weekend. The match at Rutgers on Friday, Oct. 11 is set for 3p while the Hoosiers will face Maryland in College Park, Md. on Sunday Oct. 13 at 12p. Both matches will stream live on BTN+.

Week 7:

CORNER HITS

LAST TIME: PENN STATE, KENT STATE
The Hoosiers closed out their four-game homestand this past weekend by hosting Penn State and Kent State. On Friday against the Nittany Lions, Indiana saw some good chances but Penn State proved to be too much to handle as the Hoosiers dropped the match, 3-1. Hailey Couch had the lone goal for the Hoosiers as Sachi Ananias had 12 saves on the afternoon.

Sunday against Kent State, Indiana hosted senior for their seven seniors, Kelsey Giese, Ciara Girouard, Andi Jackson, Jessica Morford, Sam Scire, Grace Sensenig, and Sheridan Weiss. The Golden Flashes would go up early in the contest and control the remainder of the match to win, 5-1. Senior Kelsey Giese scored the goal for the Hoosiers while Sachi Ananias and Shelby Querry combined for four saves on the afternoon.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
With the victory over Drexel on Sept. 1, head coach Kayla Bashore earned her first career win at the helm of the field hockey program. On the field, freshmen Tori Hill earned her first career start in an Indiana uniform. Hill also recorded her first shot of her career at Saint Louis on Sept. 13 and first assist on Sept. 20 at Michigan State. Freshman Kennedy Reardon scored her first career goal that was unassisted off a deflected shot. Senior Sheridan Weiss also saw her first game where she had the game winning goal.

WORTH NOTING
Hailey Couch leads the Indiana offense with seven goal and one assist to tally 15 points. The sophomore has recorded at least one point in her last three games played.

Seniors Ciara Girouard and Kelsey Giese were named captains for 2019 season.
