No. 10 Indiana to Host Rutgers Friday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 10-ranked Indiana University men's soccer team (9-2-3, 4-1-0 B1G) returns to Big Ten Conference play with a clash against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (7-4-3, 1-4-1 B1G). The match is scheduled to begin at 7 PM ET on Oct. 25 at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

SETTING THE SCENE
• The Hoosiers enter the match off an offensive explosion against in-state foe Evansville on Tuesday night. Indiana received goals from five different players in a 5-1, dominating victory over the Aces.
• Last season, the Hoosiers won both the Big Ten regular season championship (15th time) and Big Ten Tournament championship (13th time) in the same season for the first time since 2006.
• Also, IU advanced to the College Cup for the second-straight year and for a NCAA-record 20th time in program history.
• Indiana earned the No. 2 overall for the 2018 NCAA Tournament, marking the 14th time in the last 16 years since the current seeding format began in 2003 that IU earned a top-16 seed.
• The berth for the Hoosiers was the team's 32nd-straight bid to the NCAA Tournament and the 43rd overall in the program's history.
SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
• The Rutgers Scarlet Knights enter the Friday night match in Bloomington with an overall record of 7-4-3 and a Big Ten Conference mark of 1-4-1. Rutgers is 1-4-1 in the team's last six matches.
• The Scarlet Knights navigated the non-conference portion of the season with a record of 3-0-2, but have struggled in Big Ten play. Rutgers has posted a record of 1-4-1 in league matches.
• Rutgers has two of the more lethal offensive weapons in the Big Ten Conference in sophomore Pablo Avila and freshman Jackson Temple. Avila leads the Scarlet Knights in points with 14 (six goals, two assists), while Temple has secured 10 points (five goals).
• The Rutgers defense is led in the net by freshman goalkeeper Oren Asher. He has surrendered 17 goals in 14 starts (1.29 goals per game) and holds a save percentage of 0.721 after turning away 44-of-61 shots on frame this season.
• Rutgers was selected ninth in the preseason Big Ten Conference poll according to the league's head coaches.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana holds an 8-2-2 advantage over Rutgers in the brief series history between the two programs. The series began on Sept. 5, 1993 with the teams squaring off sporadically until RU joined the Big Ten Conference in 2014.
• The Hoosiers are unbeaten in each of the last three contests against the Scarlet Knights dating back to a 4-1 loss on Sept. 20, 2015. IU has outscored RU 6-0 in the three matches since the loss.

• Redshirt junior Spencer Glass scored Indiana's first goal in the 5-1 victory over Evansville in the first 53 seconds of the first half. The goal was the eighth fastest in program history to open a game.
• His first-minute tally was the quickest goal since Trevor Schwartz scored 47 seconds into a match against San Francisco on Sept. 1, 2017.

• Three Hoosiers made their collegiate debuts in the 5-1 win over the Purple Aces. Redshirt freshman Isaac Sarosy and redshirt freshman Ben Yeagley each saw four minutes of run.
• Redshirt freshman Trey Kapsalis, also playing in his first career game, registered the final score of the contest for Indiana in the 88th minute on a shot just inside the 18-yard box.
INDIANA UNDEFEATED IN LAST 34 HOME MATCHES
• The Hoosiers are undefeated in the team's last 34 matches at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium, posting a mark of 30-0-4.
• IU's last loss at home came to No. 20 Virginia Tech, 2-1 in overtime, on Nov. 27, 2016 in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
