
Hoosiers Upset No. 32 Texas Tech, 4-2

Bloomington, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team (8-6, 2-0 B1G) beat a ranked opponent for the second straight week after defeating the No. 32 Texas Tech Red Raiders, 4-2, on Friday night inside the IU Tennis Center. It is the Hoosiers first win over Texas Tech since 1987.
IU took care of the doubles point and followed with singles wins at the No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6 spots.
For the second straight match, Indiana put together two wins in doubles to secure the first point. At the No. 2 spot, Bennett Crane and Zac Brodney kicked things off with a 6-1 win. Facing the No. 6 ranked pair of Bjorn Thomson and Parker Wynn, IU clinched the doubles point with Brandon Lam and Carson Haskins getting the upset win at the top spot.
IU started singles with first-set wins from the back half of the lineup. With his seventh win of the season, Andrew Redding put the Hoosiers up 2-0. At the No. 5 spot, Redding took control with a 6-1, 6-2 result.
On No. 1, Antonio Cembellin took care of business with a 6-4, 6-2 win, his eighth of the season.
Holding a 3-0 lead, the Hoosiers surrendered the No. 2 spot to the Red Raiders and the No. 108 ranked singles player. Texas Tech cut it to 3-2 after winning in straight-sets at No. 3, leaving two matches in the third set.
At No. 6, Vikash Singh rolled out to a 6-2 first set win but his opponent answered with a 6-2 set win of his own. In the third set, Singh left no doubt, winning 6-0 and clinching the Indiana victory.
Up next, IU travels to Champaign, Ill. to face the No. 15 ranked Illinois Fighting Illini on Sunday, March 10. First serve is set for 1 PM. After returning from Illinois, the Hoosiers will be off until March 30 when they host the Michigan State Spartans.
