
Hoosiers Wrap Up Home Schedule with Doubleheader Sweep

Bloomington, Ind. – The Indiana men's tennis team (13-9, 6-3 B1G) closed out their home schedule with a doubleheader sweep against the No. 46 Iowa Hawkeyes (13-9, 4-5 B1G), 4-0, and Saint Louis Bilikens (2-10), 7-0, on Sunday inside the IU Tennis Center. In between the two matches, senior Antonio Cembellin was recognized for his contributions to the program.
IOWA RECAP
Indiana dominated doubles to begin the day, winning 6-1 at No. 2 with Bennett Crane/Zac Brodney and 6-2 at the No. 3 spot with Antonio Cembellin/Patrick Fletchall.
In singles, the Hoosiers won the first set at all six positions. IU had no trouble finishing out the win when they took matches at No. 5, No. 2 – Bennett Crane, and No. 6 – Vikash Singh. With the win at No. 5, Andrew Redding earned his 10thwin of the season.
SAINT LOUIS RECAP
Doubles saw a new look lineup, one that featured Patrick Fletchall at the top spot, Payam Ahmadi and No. 2 and William Piekarsky at No. 3. The IU combos had no trouble as Brodney/Ahmadi won 6-0 at No. 2 and Piekarsky/Singh won 6-1 on No. 3.
Singles also featured a change in the lineup. Piekarsky played at No. 4, his first dual singles match of the season, Fletchall at No. 5, and Ahmadi at No. 6.
Carson Haskins, Fletchall, and Ahmadi won their first sets by a 6-0 margin. Haskins and Ahmadi also won 6-0 in their second sets, putting the Hoosiers up 3-0 in the match.
On No. 5, Fletchall won his second match of the dual season with a 6-0, 6-1 score.
In the final match on his home courts, senior Antonio Cembellin went out in style by winning 6-1, 6-1 at the top position to give IU a 5-0 lead. Cembellin now has 23 wins on the season.
To finish off the day, Indiana grabbed wins from Vikash Singh and William Piekarsky. The win on No. 4 for Piekarsky was his first singles win of the year in dual play.
Up next, Indiana will finish the regular season with a match at Penn State on Friday, April 19 at 5 PM and at Ohio State on Sunday, April 21 at Noon. The following week, the Hoosiers will embark on the Big Ten Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich.
