Hoosiers Record Individual Ranked Wins, Fall Against No. 14 Purdue

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Graham Rooks and Liam Cronin took down top-10 opponents, but Purdue won the dual, 23-9 on Monday at Wilkinson Hall.

Notes
• The Hoosiers fall to 0-5 on the season and 0-4 in the Big Ten. Purdue improves to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten.
• The dual started at 149 with Graham Rooks taking down #6 Griffin Parriott of Purdue.
• Parriott led Rooks 3-1 going into the final period, but Rooks outscored Parriott, 8-0 in the final period.
• For Rooks, it was his second straight win against a ranked opponent, after his took down #13 Yahya Thomas of Northwestern on Saturday in Evanston.
• The Hoosiers won two matches against top-10 opponents and against two other Purdue top-10 opponents they took those matches all the way into overtime.
• #25 Jacob Covaciu forced overtime against #4 Dylan Lydy, who has a record of 21-1 on the season. Fernando Silva forced overtime against #8 Kendall Coleman who has a record of 21-6 on the season.
• Liam Cronin scored a takedown with 13 second left in the third period to lift him to victory over No. 5 Devin Schroder, who came into the match with an 18-3 record.
• For the second straight dual, both Rooks brothers won, with Cayden Rooks picking up a 4-1 decision over Travis Ford-Melton, who he previously lost to earlier this season.
• Cayden Rooks improved his overall record to 17-7 and has won two of his first three Big Ten matches in dual competition.

I keep telling them, every time you go out there, you're just a product of our program. I think they really believe that, and now fans can come back and watch more.

What more could you ask for? Pushing a team like Purdue who's ranked, in some polls, sixth in the country. We were in a position to win three more matches tonight, so it could've been a whole different dual meet. Proud of my guys, proud of their effort."
