
Indiana Hosts Maryland in Big Ten Semifinals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 3-ranked Indiana Hoosiers (8-1-0) will host the fourth-seeded Maryland Terrapins (4-3-2) for the third-straight season in the Big Ten Tournament Semifinals, this time at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday, April 14.

2020-21 BIG TEN CHAMPIONS
• For the third-straight season, Indiana claimed the Big Ten regular season title, the longest streak in the conference since IU captured nine-straight league crowns from 1996-2004.
• The Hoosiers have won a conference-leading 17 regular season Big Ten championships.
• Indiana has won the last five trophies handed out by the Big Ten (3 regular season, 2 tournament), meaning 25-of-30 (83.3%) of the roster has never lost a B1G trophy during their collegiate career.
INDIANA DOMINATES B1G POSTSEASON AWARDS
• The Indiana men's soccer team cleaned up the 2020-21 Big Ten Conference postseason awards.
• Sophomore forward Victor Bezerra, sophomore goalie Roman Celentano, and redshirt senior defender Spencer Glass earned All-Big Ten First Team plaudits, while sophomore midfielder Herbert Endeley and redshirt sophomore defender Daniel Munie were named to the 2020-21 All-Big Ten Second Team. Freshman defender Joey Maher was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
• Bezerra also earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors. He is the third Hoosier to garner the award as he joins Will Bruin (2010) and Eriq Zavaleta (2012). Celentano became the second IU keeper to be named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year (Trey Muse, 2018).
• Todd Yeagley was named Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth time (2010, '18, '19). Yeagley joins his father, Jerry Yeagley, as the only coaches in Big Ten history to earn the accolade in three-consecutive seasons. Jerry achieved the feat from 2001-03.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Yeagley earned his 150th-career win in a 3-0 result over Northwestern on March 23. He holds a record of 145-50-39 in his illustrious tenure at the helm of the Hoosiers.
• In the program's last 44 Big Ten regular season matches Indiana holds a record of 33-2-9. The Hoosiers are 9-0-5 in the Big Ten Tournament since the start of the 2015 postseason.
• Glass suffered a season-ending injury (tibia) against No. 11 Michigan.
• Bezerra leads the Big Ten in game-winning goals (3), points per game (2.11), shots per game (3.11), total goals (8), and total points (19). Celentano carries the conference torch in goals against average (0.211), save percentage (0.935), shutouts (6), and is second in total saves (29).
LAST TIME OUT
• The Hoosiers continued their offensive onslaught against the Big Ten Conference, scoring three goals against the eighth-seeded Northwestern Wildcats in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament. IU cruised to a 3-0 result.
• Bezerra netted two goals, including a free kick from the spot in the seventh minute to open the scoring. He capped the Hoosier scoring with a strike in the 73rd minute.
• Sandwiched between the Bezerra goals, was a tally from redshirt sophomore forward Ryan Wittenbrink. He took advantage of a goalkeeper mistake to slot home his fourth goal of the season.
• Celentano and redshirt sophomore keeper Bryant Pratt, making his IU debut, combined for Indiana's seventh clean sheet of the year.
SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
• The Maryland Terrapins, under the direction of head coach Sasho Cirovski, started the season 0-3-0, but have regained traction and not suffered a setback since. The Terps have earned results (4-0-2) in each of the last six matches, including a thrilling 1-1 draw against the fifth-seeded Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Maryland advanced via a 5-4 advantage in the penalty kick shootout.
• Redshirt senior forward Paul Binn, an All-Big Ten Second Team selection, paces the Terrapins in goals scored (3), total points (7) and game-winning goals (2). Freshman midfielder Ben Bender has scored two goals and leads Maryland in shots (20) and shots on goal (8).
• Freshman keeper Jamie Lowell leads the Terps in starts (6) and saves (19), but holds a record of 1-3-2 with 10 goals against.

• Indiana and Maryland have played 16 times on the pitch. Both programs have scored 18 goals in those 16 matches, but Indiana holds the slight series edge, 5-4-7.
